Autism Services

 Autism Program

The Keystone Community Resources, Inc., Autism Program provides comprehensive residential services to adults and transitioning adolescents diagnosed with both Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Intellectual Disabilities (ID). We serve transitioning  adolescents and adults that have Autism Spectrum Disorders as outlined by:

Autistic Disorder
  1. Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified (PPD-NOS)
  2. Childhood Disintegrative Disorder
  3. Asperger's Syndrome
The purpose of this specialized, residential-based program is to support each individual in developing communication and social skills in a healthy, nurturing environment.  Program sites are located in community-based settings and overall program goals for each individual are to:

Develop and Enhance Social Skills
  1. Increase communication skills.
  2. Increase overall adaptive behavior, while also decreasing maladaptive behavior.
  3. Increase quality of life in a community based residential setting.
  4. Improve jobs skills and/or transition to employment for adults.
We provide residential, nursing, psychiatric, psychological, medical, life skills and recreational skills to each individual in the program.  Educational services are provided in conjunction with local school districts and the Northeast Educational Intermediate Unit #19.

The program staffing ratio is based on the needs of the individuals in the program.  Staff also receives specialized autism training. This will ensure adequate communication, socialization, and behavior management programs can be implemented in a manner that will meet the needs of children and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Residential, Educational, and Clinical staff will meet regularly to review data on implementation of the individualized behavioral and communication plans in place, and to revise strategies if necessary.
