Life Sharing is truly a partnership in caring.  Bobbi and Amber work together in creating a wonderful life for Amber and a career for Bobbi.

For Bobbi, being a caregiver is part of who she is. She always liked caring for people, even when she was young. She was a wife and mother to her children, their friends and neighbors. She has worked in Human Services throughout her career. Her last position was as a Supported Living Coach for Keystone Community Resources. She met Amber 13 years ago, when she was working as a Coach. Her supervisor at the time asked her to consider becoming part of the Life Sharing Program.  Bobbi who was newly divorced at the time, was at first hesitant, but after meeting Amber and her family, knew it was a perfect fit.

Bobbi’s own family is very supportive of her, and treats Amber like one of the family. Bobbi has three sons and a daughter, but they are all grown up now.  Amber’s mother and Bobbi speak often. When Amber goes home to her family in New York for the holidays, “I miss her, we are like a team,” explained Bobbi. “We both enjoying going out together, every Friday is girl’s night out; sometimes a movie, and dinner with a few of our friends,” stated Bobbi.

Amber is independent, and enjoys bowling and playing her Nintendo DS or cards. Bobbie provides support to Amber by reminding her about daily hygiene, coaching her to facilitate healthy teeth and assuring she has a daily schedule to support a healthy life.

Bobbi believes the most rewarding part of being a Life Sharing Provider is thinking about what you are doing for someone else. “I like making Amber happy, I was always a nurturer and trust me, I get it back,” stated Bobbi.

Being a Life Sharing Provider is an important part of Bobbi’s life and who she is. They enjoy their life together and it’s a rewarding partnership for both of them
